What The Heck is a “Needs Analysis” and Do I Need One?

YES YOU DO!

A lot of people tend to get scared when a Real Estate Professional asks to arrange a meeting. But in reality that Real Estate Professional is doing his/her job. The reason a competent Real Estate Professional wants to meet is usually to conduct a needs analysis – what this is, is a deep understanding through a series of questions – once answered, the professional will know your needs (rather than wants!) and find a home that is exactly what you need.

If an agent is just sending you properties via e-mail without even meeting you or even conducting some kind of needs analysis over-the-phone and truly understanding what you need then do you think they’re really doing their job? You should ask that Professional: “Why haven’t you done a needs analysis?”

Sometimes it’s simple to just provide basic details of what you want over the phone – most people just think this is all a Real Estate Professional requires – but you really cannot work over the phone – it’s not like ordering a pizza! This is an important decision (perhaps the most important for some) and you need to select a Professional who will do the best job possible for you. Another important reason why you should meet is to make sure that the Real Estate Professional is a competent Professional who will do a good job for you. Ultimately it is the Real Estate Professional who will shape your experience.
