Welcome to Applewood!
This is the first segment of a 19-part blog-series that will showcase Mississauga's unique commmunities. We realize that a lot of our clients are coming from outside Mississauga, and while knowing the top schools is important, they have asked for more information about the individual communities these schools reside in and the real estate available. This is an important criteria not lost on us as finding a neighbourhood that fits your lifestyle is extremely important. We've already ranked the communities based on school zones (which you can find here), so now let's take a little bit of time to get to know our communities. First up: Applewood!

Final Thoughts on Applewood
Applewood is one of the oldest communities in Mississauga. It's filled with cozy and classic style bungalows in areas that are less traditionally busy than your new big box-store centered communities. With Etobicoke at its border to the east you can see that these two cities sort of bleed into each other. If you enjoy a more mature neighbourhood, with older style homes and aren't afraid of a little handywork, there are lots of opportunities for an affordable home in Applewood. On the flip side, if you are looking to perhaps downsize, but still maintain a nice piece of land, a lot of Applewood homes afford you that with the many older-style homes enjoying sizable chunks of land. Many homeowners have upgraded and outfitted their homes, so if you aren't looking for a fixer-upper, there are still some great options.
Overall, the school zone boasts some of the more intriguing schools. You have, of course, #1-rated Tomken Middle, but also Applewood SS boasts decent sports programs and a few speciality programs. This area may be most ideal for a maturing family looking for a lifestyle change.
